Anse-a-Pitres Haiti
Overview
Anse-à-Pitres is a key town located on Haiti's southern coast, right along the border with the Dominican Republic. It serves as our gateway to connecting with Haitian church partners in this
region.
Area Specifics:
Anse-à-Pitres plays a critical role in HMM's ministry efforts. Home to our school and medical clinic, it provides a strategic location for mission teams to engage in impactful work that benefits the surrounding communities. This region is among the poorest in Haiti—already the most impoverished country in the Western Hemisphere. The average family income here is just $620 USD per year. Teams serving in Anse-à-Pitres can minister to both the physical and spiritual needs of the community, building relationships and sharing the gospel in meaningful ways.
How Can I Serve?
Though the Haitian border is currently closed to Americans, ministry continues through the dedication of our Haitian staff, who maintain strong connections with local churches and pastors. Ongoing ministry efforts include:
- Evangelism and Discipleship: Sharing the gospel and providing spiritual guidance.
- Pastor Training: Equipping local pastors to lead their congregations effectively.
- Medical Clinic: Our clinic, led by Haitian staff, serves the critical healthcare needs of the region.
- Good Samaritan School: Educating over 800 students, the school is a beacon of hope for the community.
- Water Wells: Three solar-powered wells provide the only source of fresh drinking water.
- Monthly Food Distribution: Partner churches work together to distribute essential food and supplies.
Even in challenging circumstances, the work in Anse-à-Pitres continues to flourish, offering opportunities for lasting impact.
